Normandy Family Torn Apart as Sons Fight on Opposing Sides in Napoleon’s Final Campaign

Normandy Family Torn Apart as Sons Fight on Opposing Sides in Napoleon’s Final Campaign

New Historical Novel My Heroes – A Family’s March into War Brings Heart and Humanity to the Drama of the Hundred Days and Waterloo

United Kingdom, 3rd Sep 2026 - About The Book: In the spring of 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte escaped exile on Elba and returned to France, igniting the dramatic Hundred Days that culminated in the bloody fields of Waterloo. For the DuBois family of Château DuBois in Normandy, this is no distant political storm. Viscount Jean-Louis DuBois rides at Napoleon’s side as a trusted engineer and equerry, while his three grown sons find themselves serving in different regiments under conflicting loyalties.

At the heart of the story stands Viscountess Cathy DuBois, an Englishwoman by birth who has made France her home. From her hilltop vantage, she watches the rainbow over her beloved estate and prays for the safe return of her scattered men. Through letters stained with Calvados, secret reunions, and the thunder of cannon fire, the novel follows one aristocratic family as they navigate love, duty, betrayal, and survival amid the final convulsions of the Napoleonic era.

Blending meticulous historical detail with powerful human emotion, My Heroes captures the personal cost of war and the unbreakable bonds that endure beyond the battlefield.

Key Highlights:

  • Sweeping family saga set against the real events of Napoleon’s Hundred Days and the Battle of Waterloo
  • Deeply drawn characters: a resilient English viscountess, her loyal husband serving Napoleon, and three sons fighting in cavalry, infantry, and artillery
  • Authentic period details, including château life in Normandy, military engineering, the terror of battle, and the emotional reunions that followed
  • Themes of loyalty, sacrifice, maternal strength, and the search for peace after war
  • Rich in emotion, from tender letters and family reunions to the raw intensity of combat and the hope of homecoming
  • Ideal for readers who enjoy Bernard Cornwell, C.S. Forester, or sweeping historical family dramas
